This is a grant funded, on-call (29hrs/wk) position located at the ARCHES Project. This position will provide direct support to ARCHES Sheltering Services specifically ARCHES Day Center, an initiative which provides sheltering opportunities and basic need services for the area's homeless population. Responsibilities include: supporting daily operations including shower and laundry services, clerical duties, data collection & entry, assisting clients with navigation to resources, and other special projects as needed.

Job Duties:

  • Provides support to ARCHES Day Center programming, such as: showers, laundry, meals, and supportive services.
  • Maintains consistent upkeep of the Day Center space, including regular cleanings.
  • Employs de-escalation techniques and makes quick decisions in response to guest or client incidents.
  • Facilitates data collection and inputs utilization into the Health Management Information System (HMIS).
  • Fills in for reception staff when needed, including answering phones as well as greeting and directing visitors.
  • Sorts of supplies, including donations and shipments. 


  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); two years of case management or social service experience; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferences given to applicants who have completed Certified Peer Support Specialist training, and/or are CPR & First aid trained.
  • Candidate must pass a comprehensive MWVCAA background screening prior to employment.
  • Valid Oregon driver's license and insured vehicle available for use on the job, or an acceptable alternative.

Work Environment:

  • Close quarters, often with a client population experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, and/or severe and persistent mental illness, and/or unpredictable behavior.
  • Indoor work environment with frequent interruptions and demands.
  • Exposure to trash and potential biohazards.

Physical Demands:

  • Required to frequently reach with hands and arms; regularly required to climb or balance; required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity for handling office equipment.
