This is a grant funded, full-time position located at the ARCHES Project. The position is renewable annually based on continuation of project funding. The Administrative Assistant position will be full-time (40 hours a week), located at the ARCHES Project. This position will provide direct support to ARCHES Day Center Participants many of whom are chronically homeless and experiencing barriers to service engagement. This position is responsible for upholding hospitality and customer service standards, ensuring client centered & trauma informed care in adherence to program policy.



  • A Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a related field; two years of experience in an office related field, and two years of training/management/mentorship experience.
  • Or an Equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working with the homeless or at-risk populations is preferred.


  • Valid Oregon driver's license and insured vehicle available for use on the job, or acceptable alternative.
  • Candidate must pass a comprehensive MWVCAA background screening prior to employment.
  • Must have/obtain a food handler's card.


  • Provides oversight and supervision to the Supportive Services program at ARCHES.
  • Provides supervision and guidance to volunteers and interns assisting with the delivery of Supportive Services.
  • Models and trains staff, volunteers, and interns on appropriate customer service skills and expectations.
  • Ensures the safety of all guests and volunteers through implementation of statewide shelter and occupational standards.
  • Oversees the tracking and distribution of supplies.
  • Fills in with reception area staff, including answering phone as well as greeting and direction visitors, when needed.
  • Maintains a clean and organized working environment and provide trainings to maintain the consistency of services.
  • Facilitates data collection and inputs utilization profiles into the Health Management Information System (HMIS).
  • Provides ongoing training and support to all staff, volunteers, and interns on the standards of ARCHES Supportive Services.
  • Applies crisis intervention and employs de-escalation techniques and makes quick decisions in response to guest or client incidents.
  • Pursues Program Critical Strategic Goals, including: Embraces the mission and philosophy of Trauma Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, recovery, client- centered services, Coordinated Assessment, and Harm Reduction


  • Close quarters, often with a client population experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, and/or severe and persistent mental illness, and/or unpredictable behavior.
  • Indoor work environment with frequent interruptions and demands.
  • Exposure to trash and potential biohazards.

Physical Demands:

  • Required to frequently reach with hands and arms; regularly required to climb or balance; required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity for handling office equipment.
