GENERAL DESCRIPTION This is a grant funded, full-time position located at the ARCHES Project. The ARCHES Project operates a Day Center for individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness. The Day Center Coordinator will aim to create a unified system, whereby basic need and housing services are provided to the unsheltered population.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a related field
  • Two years case management or social service experience; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ideal candidates will possess an advanced degree with three or more years of homeless service delivery experience and mental health certifications and/or licensing. Preferences given to applicants who have completed Certified Peer Support Specialist training.

  CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Oregon Driver's License with acceptable driving record and insured vehicle available for use on the job.
  • Candidate must pass a comprehensive MWVCAA background screening prior to employment.
  • Must obtain Food Handler's Card.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates, recruits, trains, and oversees volunteers and interns.
  • Implement national best practices in homeless services; integrating into systems and leading the Day Center team.
  • Facilitates and organizes support groups, workshops, and activities for day center guests.
  • Oversees the nutrition program, including: benevolent meal providers, meal preparation, serving of meals, and food storage.
  • Ensures that facilities meet licensing requirements and ensures daily cleanliness of the Day Center.
  • Ensures complete client data in the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS); prepares data and evaluation reports.
  • Provides effective crisis interventions and wellness plans; maintains appropriate records and documentation. Finalizes client corrective action reports.
  • Provides backup to reception when needed by answering phones and assisting Day Center clients with checking in.
  • Supervises and evaluates staff members delivering services in partnership the senior Day Center Manager.
  • In the absence of the Day Center Manager, maintains the weekly staffing schedule and assists with shift coverage as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Close quarters, often with a client population experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, and/or severe and persistent mental illness, and/or unpredictable behavior.
  • Indoor work environment with frequent interruptions and demands.
  • Exposure to trash and potential biohazards.
  • Variable and flexible work hours.

Physical Demands:

  • Required to frequently reach with hands and arms; regularly required to climb or balance; required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity for handling office equipment.
