The Accountant position maintains an accurate accounting and internal control system(s) and related accounting functions in order to safeguard all Agency resources. Responsibilities include balancing the general ledger, assisting in month-end close, assisting in maintaining a smooth and efficient Fiscal operation, and promoting and supporting Finance Department goals and activities while maintaining inter-office harmony.

Job Duties:

  • Assists in reconciling all general ledger accounts on a monthly basis, notifying the Chief Financial Officer of any problems, issues, or concerns.
  • Prepares and inputs journal entries into the computerized general ledger program, assuring all data is recorded accurately and the transaction report matches the journal entry. The documentation must be detailed and easily tell the story behind the purpose of the journal entry.
  • Prepares monthly General Ledger financial reports using the computerized general ledger report system for all Agency grants and/or programs.
  • Prepares a computerized monthly financial summary report of all Mid-Willamette Valley Community Action Agency grants for Board Meetings.
  • Reconciles bank statements for Agency bank accounts, notifying the Chief Financial Officer of any problems.
  • May be assigned other responsibilities that further program goals and objectives.


  • Associate's Degree in Accounting, Business or related field; two years related experience and/or training or education in accounting related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Registration with the Office of Child Care Central Background Registry.
  • Valid Oregon Driver's License and insured vehicle available for use on the job or acceptable alternative.
  • Satisfactory driving record for the previous 3 years.
  • Insured vehicle available for use on the job or acceptable alternative.
  • No pre-employment drug test required - employees are only subject to drug test if they get into an on-the-job vehicular accident. 

Physical Demands: 

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity for handling office equipment.
